Delay in issuing passports
Govt deprived of revenue in Ctg
Our Correspondent

CHITTAGONG, Oct 13: The process of issuing passports has become cumbersome in Chittagong following the recent complications relating to police verification. As a result, the government is being deprived of revenue earning and people feel harassed because they cannot leave the country despite having valid visas, sources said.
Hundreds of city residents crowd at the district special branch (DSB) and branch offices almost everyday to obtain police verification report. But they are greeted with a negative response.
Following the countrywide serial bomb blasts on August 17, strict measures were adopted in preparing passports.
On the other hand, hundreds of innocent people and genuine visa holders are failing to obtain the police verification report despite having no objection from any quarter.
