Four Afghan police killed in gunfight with US troops
10/19/2005

KANDAHAR, (Afghanistan), Oct 18: US troops and Afghan police opened fire on each other after a quarrel in troubled southern Afghanistan, leaving four of the policemen dead, a provincial governor said Tuesday, report agencies.
The US-led coalition force could not immediately confirm the incident, which Kandahar governor Asadullah Khalid said occurred late Monday in the province's Maiwand district.
American forces in neighbouring Helmand province killed four plainclothes policemen about 10 days ago when they mistakenly opened fire on their car during an operation against suspected Taliban insurgents.
Meanwhile: A bomb tore through a vehicle of a private US security firm in troubled southern Afghanistan Tuesday, wounding two Afghan employees with another feared dead, a provincial governor said.
The bomb exploded as the USPI vehicle passed in Kandahar province's Zary district, a hotspot for attacks by Taliban-led insurgents, provincial governor Asadullah Khalid said.
