CAIRO, Oct 18 (Reuters): Egypt's foreign trade minister warned richer nations not to skew trade rules in their favour ahead of leading Africa's delegation of trade ministers at December's World Trade Organisation Conference in Hong Kong. Previous WTO talks have collapsed in acrimony after developing countries accused richer nations of unfair trade practices, citing large agricultural subsidies and high import tariffs. "We would like the developed countries to now stop thinking that they can design trade in ... their own terms," Foreign Trade and Industry Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid told newsmen on the sidelines of a trade conference late Monday. Reducing trade barriers to agricultural goods from developing nations and cutting subsidies to farmers is seen by analysts as key to alleviating third world poverty.
