10/2/2005

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Moudud Ahmed said that there was no room for terrorism and fundamentalism in Islam.
The minister made the observation while addressing the prize-giving ceremony of second national Hifzul Quran Competition-2005 organised by the National Hafez Society Bangladesh in the city Saturday, reports BSS.
"Those who indulge in acts of extremism and fundamentalism in the country by using Islam are the real enemies of the religion," he mentioned.
"Muslims are in favour of the war against terrorism all over the world. But, if the war goes against Islam it would be dangerous," the minister pointed out.
He said establishment of peace and development will not be possible in the world without cooperation from the Muslims as they comprise one-fifth of the global population.
Chaired by the its President Ayub Ali, the function was also addressed, among others, by Justice Abdur Rouf, Editor of the daily Inqilab MM Bahauddin, Jatiyatabadi Olema Dal President Abdul Malek and Jamia'atul Modarresin Bangladesh Secretary General Shakhir Ahmad Momtazi.
