Breast cancer prevalence on rise in the country

          The prevalence rate of breast cancer is on the rise in the country following ovary cancer, said experts.
They assessed that nearly 25 per cent cancer patients among the women were victims of breast cancer.
The rate of such fatal disease could be minimised to a great extent if awareness can be created among the womenfolk, they added.
They also said that approximately 200,000 people are infected with different forms cancers and some 150,000 die of cancer annually.
"Breast cancer can be cured through early detection and proper treatment", Mohammed Fazlur Rahman, Managing Director of Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital (AMCH) said.
Experts disclosed this at a news conference held at the conference room of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) in the city Saturday. The DAM organised the news conference to mark its month-long campaign of creating awareness about breast cancer.
Officials of the DAM said that they had undertaken series of programmes with a view to creating a massive awareness about the fatal disease.
"We'll provide screening facilities to detect breast cancer in our hospital with 50 per cent rate cut on different tests", Kazi Rafiqul Alam, president and chief of the DAM said.
He also said that DAM would organise discussion meetings at different women colleges in the city to raise the level of awareness about this killing disease.
Apart from president of the DAM, Director of the AMCH MA Hye, Professor Nurul Islam and other high officials were present in the conference.
