FE Report

Spending leisure pleasantly is difficult in city life and it is even harder to find a nice place within the city to pass moments in delight. However, there are some selected places which are worth of visiting. City dwellers naturally need breaks from the monotony of busy life and wish to enjoy some delightful moments in tranquil nature with family members or friends. There are several places in the city which may be worth of charms to visit. Museums may, in this regard, be fascinating places to pass moments in the midst of history, heritage and culture.
In the city, Ahsan Manjil is a notable place to visit. Located on the bank of the river Buriganga in the older part of Dhaka city, it was the home of the famous Nawab family of Dhaka. The manzil has been renovated and turned into a museum. It is considered as a monument of immense historical beauty. It has twenty-three galleries displaying various articles used by the nawabs.
It is well-known to many people for its location near the river and its interesting things on display. The museum contains a large number of interesting collections including furniture, sculptures, paintings, coins, metal images and many household articles used by the nawabs. It remains open from 10-00 am to 7-00 pm everyday except Thursday which is weekly holiday.
A visit to the Manjil will bring viewers on a long path of the history starting from the pre-British period. It may help heritage and culture-lovers to learn about the trends in changes in culture and history. The house is an example of rich cultural heritage. It is also a silent spectator to many events.
