UK keen to invest in power sector

          CHITTAGONG, Oct 24: British firms are showing interest to invest in the power sector of Bangladesh. This was disclosed by the chief of commerce and investment division of the British HC in Bangladesh Chiford Beb while discussing with the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) acting president SM Nurul Hoque recently.
The visiting UK official said as there remains a bright prospect for Bangladesh in the field of commerce and investment, the UK would provide assistance to ensure the proper economic development of the country.
He further said a wide-ranging demand of Bangladeshi vegetables and foods persists among the greater multitudes of the UK.
Greeting him CCCI acting president termed UK as one of the great partners of Bangladesh in the field of economic development.
He said among the total knitwear export trade of Bangladesh, 60 per cent is transacted in European Union (EU) countries including UK.
CCCI vice president MA Latif in his address called upon the British companies to invest in the Karnaphuli EPZ in Chittagong.
