Dhaka Branch Council (DBC) of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organised a discussion on "Importance of Business in the Eye of Islam" at its auditorium in the city recently.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Mosharraf Hossain Shajahan MP attended the discussion as the chief guest while Southeast University VC M Shamser Ali was present as the special guest.
The special guest and prime speaker of the programme M Shamsher Ali referring to the Holy Q'uran and Hadith emphasised on fair, ethical and exploitation-free business practices as endorsed by Islam.
He opined, if we hold true Islamic values it could reduce social injustice and help build an exploitation-free society. The chief guest in his speech opined, 'In business practices, we have moved far away from the real teachings of Islam'.
The discussion session was followed by an Iftar party. Fellow and associate members and employees of the Institute also attended the programme.
ICMAB President Md Ruhul Amin and DBC Chairman Jamal Ahmed Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion.
