Hasina accuses govt of sponsoring terrorism to foil polls
12/10/2005

KHULNA, Dec 9 (Agencies): Opposition leader Sheikh Hasina Friday alleged that the coalition regime is conspiring to obstruct free and fair parliamentary elections and bring in unholy forces by creating panic through planned bomb terrorism across the country."They want to create panic among the people because they know they'll not regain power if free and fair elections are held… they are engaged in conspiracy to bring in unholy forces; people must resist it," she told a grand rally at the local Circuit House maidan.
Asking the Prime Minister to stop bomb attacks, Hasina said: "People will pull down the government if it fails to stop bomb terrorism, reduce prices of essentials and ensure public security."
Terming the government as patrons of militants, she said: "This bomber government wants to jeopardise independence and sovereignty of the country."
Jamaat is not doing politics for Islamic rule, but for resisting Awami League (AL), she added.
Referring to the State Minister for Home Affairs' remark that "a Hindu staged the blast" in Netrakona, she said the remark is designed to "incite communalism and divert public attention."
About the August 21 grenade attack and simultaneous bombings on August 17, the opposition leader said: "There has not been any inquiry into those incidents since the government is involved in those attacks."
The bomb attacks were conducted at the instructions from the Hawa Bhaban, she alleged.
