Philippine imports fall 3.1 pc in Oct

          MANILA, Dec 28 (AFP): Philippine merchandise imports fell 3.1 per cent year-on-year in October to 3.882 billion dollars as purchases of electronic components-used mainly in exports fell, the National Statistics Office said today.
Total imports in the first 10 months of the year rose by 0.3 per cent over the same period in 2004 to 37.227 billion dollars, the office said in a statement.
The Philippines suffered a 248-million-dollar trade deficit in October, 2005 compared to the $254 deficit incurred in the same period last year.
