12/29/2005

HANOI, Dec 28 (AFP): Vietnam Airlines carried 17.8 per cent more foreign passengers in 2005 as compared to last year, a company spokesman said today.
The flag carrier transported 2.8 million foreigners, spokesman Nguyen Chan said, adding that the airline also carried nearly 100,000 tonnes of freight, a rise of 6.0 per cent over 2004.
Vietnam Airlines recorded six million passengers in all in 2005, making about 50,000 flights, both record figures.
The airline, one of the most profitable state-owned enterprises in Vietnam, has averaged a growth rate of 14 per cent over the past 10 years.
