          Fire guts 20 shops
LAXMIPUR, Feb 12: A devastating fire gutted 20 shops at Karunanagar Bazar in Ramgati Upazila Saturday. Witnesses said the fire originated at a shop at noon and soon engulfed the adjacent grocery, garments, medicine and cloths shops. —UNB
Rifle recovered
SAVAR, Feb 12: The Savar police recovered an unauthorised rifle from a retired army officer's house at Bank Colony here Friday night. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of Major (Rtd) Faruk at Bank Colony under Savar Municipality and recovered a hi-tech USA made 22-bore rifle. —UNB
Mobile court seizes
fishing net
BHOLA, Feb 12: A mobile court seized 60 kgs of hilsha fry 'Jhatka' and 1,000 meters fishing nets from Kathirmatha in the river Meghna Saturday. The mobile court led by first class Magistrate Foyez Ahmad and fisheries official Ashok Kumar Das raided different fishing trawlers in the area and seized the nets, worth about Tk 20,000. —UNB
