Prices lose grounds

          The price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) lost grounds Saturday, as the losing issues outnumbered the gaining ones.
The trade turnover, in terms of volume, increased but in terms of value, it nominally declined on the day.
The DSE General Index fell by 2.14 points or 0.12 per cent to close at 1837.89 points from 1840.01 points of Thursday, the previous trading day.
The DSE-20 Index moved down by 2.64 points or 0.13 per cent to end at 2044.07 points from 2046.71 points of previous day.
About 4.99 million shares and debentures worth Tk 267.07 mil-lion changed hands on the day against 4.08 million shares and deben-tures valued Tk 268.04 million of the previous trading day.
A number of 185 issues were traded on the day including 78 gainers, 87 losers and 20 remain-ing un-changed on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 218.75 billion from Tk 218.73 billion.
Keya Cosmetics was the top gainer and trade turn-over leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its 633,000 shares valued at Tk 22.89 million changed hands. The price of the issue rose by 12.63 per cent to close at Tk 37.40.
Miracle industries was a major trade turnover leader, in terms of volume, on the day. Its 662,000 shares worth Tk 7.92 million were traded. The price of the issue rose by 7.96 per cent to close at 12.20 on the day.
Raspit Data was the second top gainer on the day as its price moved up by 11.62 per cent to end at Tk 4.80. Its 74,000 shares valued at Tk 349,300.00 changed hands.
Maq Enterprise was the top losing issue on the day. Its price decreased by 8.88 per cent to close at Tk 10.25. Its 1,000 shares worth Tk 18,500.00 changed hands.
Perfume Chemical was a significant gaining issue on the day with its 7,250 shares valued at Tk 261,800.00 being transacted. The price of the issue rose by 11.53 per cent to close at Tk 36.25 on the day.
Southeast Bank was a major performer on the day with its 33,200 shares valued at Tk 19.99 million being traded. The price of the issue increased by 0.16 per cent to close at Tk 620.75.
