Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Barrister Moudud Ahmed Saturday urged the political parties to keep some important areas, including educational institutions free from partisan politics, reports BSS. "People expect that the major political parties will understand it and come forward to reach a consensus to stop politics in the educational institutions and on important national issues", he said at a roundtable in the city. Society for Bangladesh Development Strategy arranged the roundtable on "Good Education: Main Factor to Ensure Good Governance" at a city hotel. Chairman of the University Grants Commission M Asaduzzaman presided over the roundtable. Former minister Mizanur Rahman Shelly, former secretary Kazi Fazlur Rahman, Vice-chancellor of Dhaka University SMA Faiz, former ambassador Muhammad Zamir, former BGMEA president Annisul Haque and president of Jatiya Press Club Reazuddin Ahmed, among others, took part in the discussion. The law minister said Bangladesh has all prerequisites of good governance. Now, everybody has to make effort to improve the prerequisites through making parliament effective, strengthening democracy, and separating judiciary from the executive. Moudud said good education makes people aware of their rights. Political leaders should take the responsibility to build consciousness among the people on different social and political issues.
