Paucity of agri-inputs hits production in Rangpur
Our Correspondent
3/12/2006

RANGPUR, Mar 11: Scarcity of inputs such as seeds, fertiliser, diesel, power, fodder etc. has been greatly hampering agricultural activities in the current boro season in the district..
In this situation, the farmers are passing their days in great anxiety due to inadequate supply of the inputs even in the peak boro season.
As bank loan is not adequate for the farmers, many of them finding no alternative way, are selling their cattleheads at a throwaway price for purchasing agricultural materials, sources said.
Again, frequent power outage and exorbitant irrigation cost have also frustrated them over crops cultivation.
In this situation, the farmers of the region have urged the government to take necessary steps in this connection.
