Nepali entrepreneurs to hold 'Chicken and Egg Festival'
3/17/2006

KATHMANDU, Mar 16 (Xinhua): The Nepali Chicken Entrepreneurs' Group Joint Task Force is to organise the "Chicken and Egg Festival" in the capital Saturday with the objective of promoting consumption of chickens and eggs.
The festival will be held at the Birendra International Convention Centre in Kathmandu, Radio Nepal reported today.
Hom Bahadur Basnet, an organiser of the festival, was quoted by the radio as saying in a press conference here Wednesday that there is no possibility of bird flu spreading in Nepal and so there should be no fear in consumption of chickens and eggs.
The poultry business accounts for 4 per cent of Nepal's gross domestic product and currently some 65,000 families are directly involved in the business.
