S'pore requests more free trade zones in Indonesia
3/17/2006

JAKARTA, Mar 16 (Xinhua): Singapore has asked Indonesia to establish more free trade and industrial zones similar to those on Batam island, a report said today.
The request was conveyed during a meeting between Vice President Jusuf Kalla and visiting Singapore Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang Wednesday, said The Jakarta Post newspaper.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Boediono said the meeting discussed a request by Singapore for more free trade and industrial zones in Indonesia, like those on Batam island, about 20 km from Singapore.
"The government will soon issue a regulation on the establishment of such zones," said.
