A nor'wester swept over the capital Thursday evening disrupting normal city life on the eve of "Pahela Baishkh" celebrations, reports UNB. The nor'wester hit the city at a speed of nearly 118 kilometer per hour, halting homebound people on the way. The Met Office said the nor'wester accompanied by heavy shower lasted for three minutes from 6:15pm to 6:18pm, causing a rainfall of about 24 mm in the capital. The reports were received by the agency at light hailstorm in different parts of the city during the nor'wester. There was, however, no report of any casualty. As some city streets got water-logged following the nor'wester with rain, many people were forced to wade through knee-deep water on their way home at the end of the day.
