Attorney General defends BNP MP Moni before SC
4/14/2006

In spite of being not a party in the suo-moto contempt rule against the CEC and Nurul Islam Moni, MP, Attorney General AJ Mohammad Ali Thursday surprisingly defended the BNP lawmaker before the Supreme Court( SC), reports BDNEWS
Advocate Khandaker Mahbubuddin Ahmed earlier told the Court that none other than the Court and the counsels for the contemnor petitioners can take part in the submission as the Supreme Court itself issued the contempt rule against the CEC and Moni.
The Chief Justice's court, on March 27, issued the suo-moto contempt rule against Justice MA Aziz and Nurul Islam Moni MP, for annexing a letter expressing "lack of confidence on the apex court" along with the leave to appeal filed by the EC against the High Court judgment over preparing electoral roll.
