Social Marketing Company (SMC) has launched a pilot programme on IUD (intra-uterine device) through its running Blue Star Programme. It will be implemented in collaboration with Directorate General of Family Planning and EngenderHealth.
Under the programme, a limited number of female private medical practitioners will be trained on family planning counselling and IUD to improve IUD services. National scale-up of the IUD services will also be planned on the report of pilot programme, said an SMC press release.
In line with the programme, a daylong "TOT to Train Blue Star Providers on FP Counselling and IUD" was held recently in the city. A total of 22 trainers attended the programme.
Director General of Family Planning MA Akmall Hossain Azad attended the inaugural session as the chief guest. SMC Managing Director Perveen Rasheed and EngenderHealth Country Representative AJ Faisel also attended the inaugural session as special guests.
