Brothers' 2nd straight win
8/1/2004

RANGPUR, July 31 (UNB): Dhaka Premier League champions and national star-studded Brothers Union Club recorded their second consecutive win in the Nitol-Tata National Football League with a huge 5-1 victory over all-losers Bagerhat Unmochan Club at local Stadium Saturday.
The Gopibagh outfit Brothers, which outplayed Bangladesh Air Force by 3-0 goals in their first appearance in Mymensingh-leg match, Saturday dominated the first half by 2-0 goals.
It was the third successive loss for outsider Unmochan Club of Bagerhat after suffering 0-1 defeat against Dhaka League runners-up Sheikh Russell KC and 3-4 defeat against Bangladesh Air Force, both in Mymensingh.
In the day's one-sided match, national coloured medio Monwar Hossain struck twice, Abul Hossain, Arman Mia and Topu scored one each for the winners while Kallol netted the consolation goal for the losers.
From the very beginning, Brothers Union took the match in their favour and took lead in the 10th minute when Monwar opened the account, capitalising on Alfaz cross (1-0).
Monwar Hossain scored his second goal in the 17th minute by a well-judged shot, enabling the Dhaka giant Brothers Union to dominate the first half by 2-0 goals.
Abul widened the Brothers margin in 56th minute pushing the ball home (3-0). Later, Abul was adjudged man of the match to receive a prize money of Tk 5,000 from Rangpur Pourasava Chairman Abdur Rouf Moni.
Another medio Arman further sounded the margin, adding one more goal in the 66th minute by an Abul pass (4-0)
Kallol reduced the Unmochan Club margin in the 76th minute off a Mosses pass (4-1) while substitute Topu finished the winners tally (5-1) six minutes before the final whistle amidst the cheers of a few Brothers' supporters.
Besides, Abul came close to score twice in the 15th and 19th minutes of the first half, but failed.
Earlier in the day's another match, Chittagong Mohammedan SC drew goal-less with all-losers Narsingdi Kararchar KC at the same venue. Arman Azizi of Chittagong Mohammedan SC was adjudged man of the match.
