Robinho keen to stay with Santos
1/15/2005

Brazil international forward Robinho has insisted he is wants to stay with Santos rather than move to Europe. Robinho has been linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea and speculation over a possible move intensified after his mother was kidnapped late last year. The 20-year-old said: "I'm not interested in what people say. I want to stay at Santos - when the time comes to leave, everyone will know about it." Robinho's mother was finally released after being held for six weeks. The player's agent, Wagner Rubiero, has previously said Chelsea were the only team prepared to pay £14m, though Robinho has hinted he would prefer a move to Spain. Rumours of a move to Real increased after former Santos coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo was appointed the Spanish club's coach. — BBC
