Price indices plummet at both bourses

          Price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed lower Sunday, as the losing issues outplayed the gaining ones. The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, however, increased on the day.
The DSE All Share Price Index closed at 1271.33 points, registering 5.96 points or 0.47 per cent fall from 1277.29 points of Thursday, the previous trading day.
The DSE General Index slipped by 7.34 points or 0.44 per cent to close at 1669.85 points from 1677.19 points of the previous day.
The DSE-20 Index dropped by 4.87 points or 0.28 per cent to end at 1703.96 points from 1708.83 points.
About 3.29 million shares and debentures worth Tk 219.06 million changed hands on the day against 1.69 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 171.18 million of the previous trading day.
A total of 157 issues were traded on the day including 35 gainers, 106 losers and 16 remaining unchanged on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 225.01 billion from Tk 225.89 billion.
Beximco Pharma performed as the top trade turnover leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its 598,600 shares valued at Tk 45.89 million changed hands. The price of the issue rose by 1.33 per cent to close at Tk 76.00. Its price varied between Tk 78.00 and Tk 75.90 on the day.
Aims First Mutual Fund was the top trade turnover leader, in terms of volume, on the day. Its 740,000 shares worth Tk 975,000 were traded. The price of the issue declined by 1.50 per cent to close at Tk 1.31 on the day.
German-Bangla Food was the top gaining issue on the day. Its price moved up by 11.11 per cent to end at Tk 1.00. Its 2,000 shares valued at Tk 2,000.00 changed hands.
The price indices on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also slid on the day, as the losers surpassed the gainers.
The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, went up on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index fell by 0.32 per cent to finish at 3366.32 points from 3377.07 points of Thursday, the previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index moved down by 1.00 per cent to close at 3167.71 points from 3199.81 points.
A total of 1.52 million shares and debentures worth Tk 50.81 million changed hands on the day against the previous day's 0.79 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 23.32 million of the previous day.
A total of 62 issues were traded on the day. Of them, 18 gained, 37 lost grounds and seven remained unchanged.
Prime Finance was the top gaining issue and trade turnover leader, in terms of value and volume, on the day.
