Bangladesh is supposed to tour India in September-October next year. Imagine. Things are planned so far ahead. However, from time to time people here want confirmation and with good reason because the tours to India somehow get lost and are later postponed officially. They say the file or files pertaining to the Bangladesh trip are forever being misplaced by well meaning but super patriot office assistants who think playing Bangladesh lowers the esteem of India and so on.
It so happens that this next year trip is also in doubt because that particular file cannot be found. Someone also took the trouble of going to the computers and have erased all details of the trip. Now the Indians refer to the trip as 'real or imagined'.
The ICC bigwigs will have a say on the matter sometime in March next year in what they call the Future Tour Programme (FTP).
Bangladesh officials have asked their counterpart in the ICC to look out for anti-Bangladesh bugs, gremlins, virus, call it what you will in their machines and file system because someone or something seems to be fooling around with our foreign tours.
The grievances against India is valid because those guys came here and played Tests and ODIs in 2004, ate, drank and had loads of fun before departing our shore. About the return visit to India, a cricketer moaning about the invitation that is never coming says:
"Sarera ahanay aishsha maira khaiya gelo-ga kintu mainy amago dakbar shomoy hoilay koy shomoy hoy nai. Kon dada, eidaray ki bondhu shulobh bebohar kowa zae?Amra'o ektu kheltam, purti-pharti mainy kortam…"
