Deep depression intensifies into cyclonic storm
10/29/2005

The deep depression over west central Bay and adjoining southwest Bay moved slightly north-westwards and intensified into a cyclonic storm over the same areas at 9am Friday, reports UNB.
A special Met Office bulletin said it was centered about 1510 kms south-west of Chittagong port, 1465 kms south-west of Cox's Bazar port and 1330 kms south-west of Mongla port.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-westerly direction and cross Andhra coast near Ongole by evening or early night Friday.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the storm centre is about 65 kph rising to 85 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain rough to very rough.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to lower distant cautionary signal number one but hoist distant warring signal numbering.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the north Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
