RAB arrest two JL leaders in Khulna
11/16/2005

KHULNA, Nov 15 (UNB): Two Jubo League (JL) Khulna district leaders were arrested by RAB Tuesday morning from the city.
Locals said another man Enamul Haq Babu was also nabbed and was taken to the camp along with the two JL leaders.
In Dhaka home ministry sources said Qamruzzaman and Babul were selling an M-16 automatic rifle to an unidentified man when the RAB team caught them red handed. Shots were fired when they tried to flee the scene.
Both were hit by bullets in the legs, they said, adding they were blindfolded and whisked away by RAB to its camp in Khulna Newsprint Mill for questioning.
Party sources however claimed JL President Qamruzzaman Jamal and publicity Secretary Babul Majumder were gossiping in front of Hotel Paradise on Upper Jessore Road in Khulna when plain clothed RAB members raided the area, opened fire and detained them.
JL is a front organisation of main opposition Awami League which later staged a protest rally in front of city party office demanding release of the detained JL leaders within 24 hours.
