A bomb and a mortar shell was recovered Tuesday morning in Thakurgaon and Chittagong respectively, reports UNB. The bomb was found at Singia village near Thakurgaon TV and Radio Transmission Centre Tuesday. Locals said a farmer first saw the bomb abandoned there while he was doing the rounds of his paddy field Tuesday morning and informed the police. Police rushed to the place and recovered the bomb and took it to Thakurgaon sadar thana. They could not provide details about the type of the bomb. "We have informed the bomb experts of the army in Rangpur," a police officer said. "The type of the bomb can only be confirmed after examination by the army team," Police suspected that there might be a militants' den near the place where the bomb was discovered. It was also possible that the militants had planted the bomb where it was found. Meanwhile, a mortar shell was found in a drain at Madarbari in Double Mooring thana of Chittagong Tuesday morning, creating panic among the local residents. Police said some cleaners of the city corporation espied the mortar shell while they were sweeping the road at about 9:30 am. On receipt of information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the mortar shell and informed the explosive experts. Earlier, on November 6, a powerful bomb was recovered from the same area.
