AL to publish white paper on corruption, irregularities in sports sector
11/2/2005

Awami League (AL) will publish a white paper on corruption and irregularities of the BNP-Jamaat alliance government in the sports and cultural arena during its four-year rule, reports BDNEWS.
AL Joint General Secretary and former state ministers for sports and cultural affairs Obaidul Kader said this at a press conference Tuesday.
Reiterating his pledge to introduce a sustainable 'long term national sports policy' on the basis of suggestions and opinions of all concerned with the sports, he said, "To this end we will start work very soon."
Speaking at the conference at a city hotel, Obaidul Kader said the alliance government had failed to run the country in every sector including sports and culture.
The sports and cultural sectors are also in jeopardy in the hand of the alliance government and that is the reason for the shrinking of all our potentials day by day, he observed.
The former state minister for sports said the sports sector is now in the grip of the ruling alliance's autocratic rule and the cricket authorities are busy with the problem of maintaining the national team, appointment of office bearers at its central offices and efforts to legalise the illegally grabbed power.
He said since the government assumed power it has been relentlessly trying to stop the voice of progressive cultural activists, writers and freethinking people and resorting to oppression.
