Statue worth Tk 0.5m recovered

          DINAJPUR, Nov 8: A statue made of touchstone was recovered from the house of a union parishad (UP) chairman in Birganj Upazila here Sunday. The police said one Sushil Bormon of Dakeshwari village of Sator union recovered the statue of a Hindu Goddess worth about Tk 0.5 million (5.0 lakh). When UP chairman Mahmudul Alam Shamim learnt about the matter he took it from Sushil tactfully. — UNB

SI killed in road accident

NILPHAMARI, Nov 8: Sub-Inspector (SI) of Jaldhaka thana was killed and a constable injured when a trolley rammed into their motorbike at Kathali on Domar-Dimla road Monday. Sources said a trolley dashed a motorbike killing SI Mojibur Rahman (48) of Parbatipur Upazila of Dinajpur district on the spot. Seriously injured Akkas Ali was admitted to the Jaldhaka Health Complex. The accident occurred in the evening when they were returning to the thana after an investigation. — UNB
