BRAC disburses Tk 6.3m among 'monga'-hit people
FE Report
11/9/2005

BRAC has disbursed Tk 6.3 million among the 'monga'-hit people this year in 17 worst affected upazilas of Nilphamari, Kurigram and Lalmonirhat districts, said a press release.
After last year's 'monga', BRAC carried out a survey and identified the most vulnerable and poor families who suffer most during the Monga period.
Based on the survey, BRAC distributed soft loans of Tk 700 per household to 9000 worst affected households. These ultra-poor families are receiving support only from BRAC.
The loans were given for subsistence, for the purpose of consumption and do not need to be repaid until January 2006.
