4 more players charged with match fixing
12/29/2005

HANOI, Dec 28 (Reuters): Vietnamese police have filed criminal charges against four more footballers, taking to six the number charged with fixing a match against Myanmar at last month's Southeast Asian Games, state media reported.
Huynh Quoc Anh and midfielder Le Bat Hieu were detained on Wednesday but not taken into custody like the other two players, Le Van Truong and Tran Hai Lam, said the on-line VnExpress newspaper (vnexpress.net).
Police arrested striker Pham Van Quyen and team mate Le Quoc Vuong last week and state media said they had confessed to agreeing to ensure Vietnam beat Myanmar by no more than one goal in the group stage match.
That allowed bookmakers in Vietnam to offer attractive odds on Vietnam winning by more than a goal.
Vietnam beat Myanmar 1-0 but lost to Thailand in the final held in the Philippines.
Vietnam Football Federation's Vice Chairman Le The Tho resigned this week over the scandal.
State media quoted Quyen as telling investigators he received 20 million dong ($1,260) from Vuong for helping fix the game.
The six footballers were charged with "gambling and organising gambling" and face up to seven years in jail.
