Boat-ferry collision leaves 22 missing
2/13/2005

KHULNA, Feb 12: A mechanised boat capsized in the river Rupsha following collision with a ferry Saturday, leaving about 22 passengers missing. The police said the boat carrying 33 passengers collided with a ferry shortly after sailing from the terminal. Eleven passengers of the trawler swam ashore. Most of the missing people hailed from the Bagerhat district. Navy, fire brigade, police personnel and local people are continuing search to rescue the missing victims. The rescue operation is, however, being affected due to strong currents in the river, sources said. — UNB
