Caretaker govt, EC reform proposals
Dialogue will start after AL welcomes PM's proposal, says Moudud
3/10/2006

Law Minister Moudud Ahmed has said discussion with the opposition with regards to their reform proposals would start only after the Awami League (AL) welcomes the prime minister's proposal on the formation of a committee, reports UNB.
"But AL leaders are speaking against the proposed committee…Before formation of the committee they should first welcome the proposal and express their willingness to enter into a discussion with the government," he told journalists.
In reply to a question, he said there is no need to make any formal proposal to the AL after the prime minister made it on the floor of the House. "What could be more formal than that?" he said.
On February 28, Prime Minister (PM) Khaleda Zia offered to form a committee with members of the two parties (BNP and AL) to discuss the opposition's reform proposals and work out a negotiated settlement.
