BRUSSELS, Mar 09 (BDNEWS): Visitors from outside the European Union may face stricter visa requirements to enter the bloc during the soccer World Cup in Germany as part of a fight against forced prostitution on the sidelines of the tournament. Organised crime rings could force thousands of women into prostitution in Germany to exploit a market opportunity as more than 1 million mostly male soccer fans gather for a month from June 9, EU lawmakers have warned. EU Justice Commissioner Franco Frattini said he would propose to EU states in April that they introduce visas for travellers from countries who currently do not need them. An EU official said that Bulgaria and Romania -- due to join the 25-member bloc in 2007 or 2008 -- were amongst the countries which could be affected. Bulgarian and Romanian travellers do not currently require visas to enter the EU.
