MUNICH, Germany, March 9 (AFP): German football was left in a state of mourning Thursday after AC Milan thrashed Bayern Munich 4-1 to send the German champions crashing out of the last 16 of the Champions League 5-2 on aggregate.
It capped a wretched week for German teams on Italian soil with defeats in three different Italian cities.
On Tuesday Italian champions Juventus defeated Werder Bremen 2-1 in Turin to knock them out of the Champions League.
Eight days ago Italy humiliated the German national team 4-1 in Florence and then Bayern lost by the same scoreline in Milan.
