Share prices gain on bourses
FE Report
3/6/2005

Share prices on the country's two bourses gained Saturday, led by banks and insurance as investors returned to make commitments on the first day of the week, market sources said.
"We are constantly watching the developments in the market. But we are in the market buying and selling scrip," one broker said Saturday.
He said the banking and insurance shares attracted the investors and became a dominant factor for movement of the indices.
In the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark index rose 20.12 points or about 1.06 per cent to close at 1901.82 while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) benchmark index rose 23.71 points or about 0.69 per cent to close at 3450.21.
The DSE-20 blue chip index advanced 1.05 points or 0.05 per cent to close at 2095.07 while CSE-30 blue chip index rose 10.60 points or about 0.32 per cent to close at 3311.29.
In DSE, top ten gainers are: Fine Foods, IFIC Bank, Delta Life Insurance, Fifth ICB, Meghna Shrimp, Uttara Finance, NCC Bank, South East Bank, East Land Insurance and National Life Insurance.
Agrani Insurance, Maq Paper, Monno Ceramics, Rupali Bank, GB JV Food, Pubali Bank, Shinepukur, Intech, Fu Wang Food and Square Textile were the top losers.
Of the 177 issues traded on the DSE, a total of 83 lost, 71 gained and 23 remained unchanged while 3508902 shares and debentures changed hands, the value of which was about Tk 585.85 million.
In CSE, 1266247 shares and debentures changed hands, the value of which was about Tk 104,43 million.
