AEJB programmes to protest anti-people policies of IMF, WB
FE Report
8/20/2006

Alliance for Economic Justice, Bangladesh (AEJB) has launched different programmes to protest against what it said anti-people policies of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB).
Leaders of AEJB, an joint body of 35 NGOs and social organisations, said that the 50th annual meeting of IMF-WB will be held in Singapore on September 14-20. AEJB will organise different protest programmes in the city from September 4 on the eve of IMF-WB's annual meeting, they said.
Announcing the programme at a press conference Saturday, AEJB leader Swapan said WB and IMF impose illogical and anti-people conditions on the government in the name of providing financial assistance.
IMF and WB also intervene into our national policies and political affairs, he added.
As part of the programme, AEJB will organise a series of seminars September 4, 6 and 9 at the National Press Club and mass gathering in front of Shahid Minar September 6.
Aminur Rasul Babul, Abul Hossain, Zakir Hossain, Shishir Shil and Shamima Nasrin were, among others, present at the press conference.
