August 17 bomb attacks
SCBA accuses govt of initiating 'eyewash trial'
10/19/2005

Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Mahbub-e-Alam and Secretary M Enayetur Rahim Tuesday accused the government of initiating an 'eyewash trial' of the perpetrators of the August 17 series of bomb attacks across the country, reports BDNEWS.
"The government has hurriedly framed chargesheets against the accused persons under explosives act in the cases of series of bomb attacks to mislead the people, but not drawn any sedition charge against any accused," they said in a statement.
The SCBA leaders said original conspirators and planners of the bomb attacks are being protected by framing charge sheet under only explosives act.
"The judgements punishing the accused in these cases will be hard to uphold in the higher judiciary," they maintained.
The SCBA leaders said fair investigation, charge sheets and trials must be ensued in the cases of bomb attacks to protect the state, the law and the judiciary.
