BCB decentralises selection process
10/26/2005

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decentralised its selection process to make fair talent hunt as well as to strengthen its bridge with the division bodies, reports BDNEWS.
In quest of having better coordination in the divisional team selection process, BCB Tuesday announced six-selection boards for the upcoming Ispahani Mirzapur Tea 7th National Cricket League (NCL).
The country's lone first class NCL is scheduled to start on November 15 on home and away basis.
Each of the four-member selection board comprises of a selector, a coach, a national cricketer and an official.
About the selection board, BCB chief selector Faruque Ahmed said, "To avoid the complexity after keeping the experience of the last year's national meet in mind, we have formed four-member selection board for the six division to select their team smoothly."
Meanwhile, the last year BCB three-member selection committee headed by Faruque Ahmed selected six divisional teams to make the NLC more competitive, but Sylhet Division sharply reacted with their selection after few outside players of Sylhet were included in their side.
And, the selection-committee was forced to include a couple of Sylhet cricketers in their team dropping the players from Dhaka.
Replying to a query, Faruque said, "They will again put the competent cricketers to the teams in a rational way if the competent cricketers don't find the room in their respective divisional teams."
He added, "We know that how many talented cricketers have been included in each divisional team and we will prefer to put the remaining talented cricketers, if any, to the other teams."
The chief selector said that the inclusion a national player in the board is not mean that he would lead the team, but he would play a good role to select and guide the team.
Chief selector will lead two selection boards of Chittagong and Khulna, selector Ather Ali Khan will direct both the Dhaka and Barisal boards while another selector GM Nowsher Prince for Rajshahi and Sylhet boards.
Besides, the Dhaka board includes coach Sarwar Imran, player Khaled Mahmud Sujan and official Abdullah Al Fuad Redwan, Chittagong board contains coach Minhazul Abedin Nannu, player Akram Khan and official Siraj Uddin M Alamgir and Khulna board incorporates coach Salahuddin, player Habibul Bashar Sumon and official M Maruful Islam.
Rajshahi board ropes coach Wahidul Gani, player Khaled Mashud Pilot and official Khondokar Maynul Islam, Barisal board comprises of coach Nurul Abedin Nobel, player Shahriar Nafess and official Asaduzzaman Khoshru and Sylhet board contains coach Golam Faruqur Suru, player Rajin Saleh Alam and official Ahmed Arif.
