The US dollar was steady against the Bangladesh taka Tuesday in the interbank foreign exchange market. It, however, gained slightly in the informal or kerb market. The interbank call money rate, on the other hand, remained unchanged in an active market, fund managers said.
In the interbank market, the exchange rate of the greenback against the taka ranged between Tk 65.75 and Tk 65.80 maintaining Monday's, the previous working day, range. The dollar was firm in public deals and was transacted between Tk 64.20 and Tk 67.10.
In the informal market, the dollar was traded between Tk 67.60 and Tk 67.90 against the previous day's range of Tk 67.50 and Tk 67.80. The informal market experienced lower demand for the dollar, money dealers said. The exchange rate of the Indian rupee against the taka ranged between Tk 1.48 and Tk 1.53.
In the regional market, the exchange rate of the dollar against the Indian rupee was quoted at Rs 45.55-Rs 45.65 and against the Pakistani rupee it ranged between Rs 59.84 and Rs 59.94.
The call rate mainly ranged between 6.50 per cent and 14.00 per cent maintaining the previous working day's range.
