Six suspected activists of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were arrested from Bogra and Chapainawabganj districts, security sources said Tuesday, reports UNB.
In Chapainawabganj, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) told local journalists Tuesday that they had arrested five JMB activists from Shibganj and Gomostapur upazilas during raids on suspected hideouts Monday morning.
The suspects were identified as Lalchan, 30, Hasan, 26, Hamidul, 26, Golam Mostafa, 23, and Rafiqul, 26.
In a similar drive in Bogra Monday night, police arrested JMB activist Saiful Islam 25, from a house at Bandighi village under Sadar upazila.
As per his statement, police also recovered some Islamic books, trunks and plastic containers with liquid material from his house. Police is yet to identify the liquid material.
Meanwhile, in Khulna, charge sheet was submitted to the court Tuesday accusing 9 persons including Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai of Aug 17 simultaneous bomb blasts in the district.
They were accused in three separate cases filed with Kotwali, Sonadanga and Daulatpur thanas. In Khulna City alone bombs were set off at 14 locations.
Seven suspected perpetrators are in custody though their leaders Shaikh Rahman and Bangla Bhai still remain at large.
