Samson, Manzur Elahi BAPLC's president, vice president

          Samson H Chowdhury and Syed Manzur Elahi have been re-elected president and vice-president respectively of Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies (BAPLC) for the year 2006.
The election was held in the association's executive committee meeting, under the election board's supervision recently at the city.
Samson H Chowdhury is presently the Chairman of Square Group of Companies and Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL), Vice-Chairman of Mutual Trust Bank Limited, Director of MIDAS and Adviser to Bangladesh Aushad Shilpa Samity. He was the former president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
Syed Manzur Elahi is the Chairman of Apex Group of Companies, Mutual Trust Bank Limited, Bangladesh Association of Banks, Bangladesh Employers Federation and a former president of MCCI. He was twice the adviser to the country's caretaker governments. He is also the Honorary Consul of Belgium in Bangladesh.
BAPLC is an organisation for the companies listed with the stock exchanges of the country. Its primary objective is to protect and safeguard the interest of those companies and foster ideas of co-operation and mutual help among them. The association also aids in the listed companies' development and encourages their improvement in the capital market.
Recently, the Ministry of Commerce has issued a directive for BAPLC's compulsory membership to all companies listed with Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges.
