Holcim's insurance programme for 4,000 masons

          Holcim Cement Company's insurance programme has covered the full premium payment of about 4,000 masons throughout the country.
The company initiated this insurance programme for masons in the year 2003. Under the programme if any mason falls any accident or expires during construction work, the insurance holder will get compensation of Tk 25,000-Tk 50,000 under certain conditions.
One of such compensations has recently been given to an injured mason of Rajshahi's Vatpara, named Yousuf Ali. He got injured in April 2004, while engaging in construction work. He received a cheque of Tk 50,000 from Pragati Insurance Ltd, under the Holcim-initiated programme.
Pragati Insurance Additional Managing Director (AMD) ABM Mir Hussain handed over the cheque to Yousuf Ali in a mason meet in Rajshahi city. Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu attended the occasion as the chief guest and praised Holcim's initiative.
Holcim Managing Director PN Iyer, in his welcome speech narrated the company's various activities under corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Besides this insurance programme, Holcim has offered two more programmes for masons. One of these is Holcim scholarship for mason's children and other is training on construction for masons.
Holcim General Manager (customer care) Niaz Uddin Mahmood and Pragati AMD also spoke on the occasion.
Besides 400 masons, a number of Holcim high officials, cement traders, journalists and other respectable persons of Rajshahi city also attended the programme. A grand rally paraded the main areas of the city before it.
