Hanif's condition improving, regains consciousness
2/13/2006

Dhaka city AL President and former mayor Mohammad Hanif regained consciousness at the Bamrungrad Hospital in Bangkok Sunday, reports BDNEWS.
His condition was stated to be improving. He regained his feelings and could move his limbs. He began to take water and liquid food through a pipe. He also began to perform his bodily functions that proved that his kidney is functioning well, said the party sources.
He was taken to Bangkok at 9 pm Friday by an air ambulance where he later had to undergo medical check-up.
Earlier, the air ambulance along with a three-member team of doctors from the Bangkok Bamrungrad Hospital arrived in the Zia International Airport at 4 pm Friday.
The former mayor had been kept on artificial life-support in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the CCU at the BIRDEM Hospital before he was flown to Bangkok.
Earlier, Hanif encountered a massive cardiac problem while speaking at a protest rally of the 14-party combine in the capital Wednesday and was admitted to the BIRDEM Hospital.
