Veteran politician Imamuddin Ahmed, former president of Faridpur district Awami League (AL) and former member of parliament (MP), died at the Shikdar Medical College Hospital early Sunday. He was 73, reports UNB. Imam, who was also an organiser of the Liberation War and former member of AL Central Working Committee, left behind his wife, two sons and one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. His body was brought to AL central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city where AL leaders and activists of the party paid tribute to him placing floral wreaths. They also attended his Namaz-e-janaza. Later, the mortal remains of Imamuddin Ahmed were sent to Faridpur. In a condolence message, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and AL President Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep shock at his death. She said that the nation would remember with profound respect his glorious contribution to the Liberation War and to every democratic movement.
