VIA design partner of GP HQ project
FE Report
2/16/2006

The design for the GrameenPhone (GP) Corporate Headquarters has been finalised.
Vistaara and Icon Architects (VIA), a local company, has won the 'conceptual design' competition and has been retained as the "Design partner" for further development and implementation of the project.
The project team along with the design partner will immediately start work on the detail design and requirement specifications involving user groups. GP is expected to move to the new corporate headquarters by 2008.
The GrameenPhone Corporate Headquarters project was started in 2005 with the purchase of a 5.8 bigha plot of land at Bashundhara and with an open invitation to local and foreign architectural design firms to submit suitable designs for the project.
The final phase of the selection process started with the presentation of the conceptual design by four short-listed renowned architectural firms in December 2005.
"GrameenPhone expects real business benefits by building the new corporate headquarters. We will draw on the collective strengths of our team and VIA's team," says Frank Fodstad, Deputy Managing Director of GrameenPhone.
The selected design developed by VIA is an 'extrovert' building with an appealing entry to the users. "GrameenPhone will gather together its personnel from 12 office locations in Dhaka at this new headquarters," says Petter Russ, the Project Director. "Our vision is to build the region's leading workplace for creative activities.
