Terrorist killed in police encounter

          A terrorist was killed in an encounter between his cohorts and police in the city's Bhasantek area under Kafrul police station early Friday. The deceased was identified as Javed Iqbal alias Mintu (25), son of Sultan Ahmed of village Balia Fakirpara in Madaripur district. A resident of Uttar Ibrahimpur under Kafrul police station, Mintu was wanted in a number of cases including college student Momin murder case, police said. Following his statement, police took him to Bhasantek area at about 2am Friday to arrest his accomplices and seize hidden arms. — UNB
