CHITTAGONG, Mar 12 (UNB): A young man wanted by law-enforcers as a "top terror" was killed in an encounter during an arms-recovery operation at Nanupur in Fatikchhari Upazila early Sunday following his arrest by elite-force RAB. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel arrested Ayub Ali (31) of North Chittagong from Gohira in Rauzan Upazila Saturday afternoon. "He was an arms trader and accused in a number of cases," said a RAB official. After interrogation, he was taken to Nanupur for recovering firearms. But when the team reached there at about 3.30am, his cohorts opened fire on the elite force forcing them to fire back. "Ayub Ali was caught in the crossfire and wounded while trying to flee. He died on way to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital," said the RAB account of the encounter. The force recovered 11 rounds of bullet of AK-47 rifle from the scene. The body was sent to the CMCH morgue for autopsy.
