Spices cultivated on 2,483 hectares in Magura

          MAGURA, Mar 18 (UNB): Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken up a scheme to bring 2,483 hectares of land under spices farming in the district with an output target of 20,321 tonnes.
According to DAE, garlic has been cultivated on 533 hectares and onion on 1,950 hectares.
The department arranged supply of quality seeds, fertiliser and pesticides at fair prices to farmers. The local Krishi Bank also disbursed loans among the farmers to make the programme a success.
Besides, the farmers have already brought 246 hectares under potato and 8,818 hectares under mustard cultivation in the district with a target to produce 3,690 tonns of potato and 6,818 tonns of mustard seeds.
