Vietnamese seafood businesses to attend exhibition in Mexico
3/19/2006

HANOI, Mar 18 (VNA): Some Vietnamese seafood businesses will attend the Alimentaria Mexico 2006 International Food and Beverage Exhibition in Mexico from June 4-6.
The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) said that the exhibition will offer a chance for Vietnamese businesses to conduct research into the Mexican market and seek partners.
The multi-sectorial Alimentaria Mexico exhibition is the largest held in Mexico annually. Last year, it drew the participation of 400 businesses from 23 countries and territories, with more than 5,000 product categories on display.
Vietnam exported nearly 6,600 tonnes of aquatic products to Mexico in 2005, grossing nearly 17 million USD, up 96 per cent in volume and 67 per cent in value from the previous year, VASEP said.
It added, however, Mexico remains a potential market for Vietnam not only because it is a densely-populated country with rapid economic growth, but also because it is "the backyard" of the US market.
